Saturday's Beauty Before Age ~Stress~

Is Stress Causing You To Age?!

The answer sadly to say is YES!
Stress affects so many areas of our lives. Stress can affect our health and general well-being. Stress can cause anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, headaches, eye pain and so on.
Stress weakens our immune systems too.
But have you ever thought how stress can speed up the aging process?

All kinds of changes take place inside our bodies when we are stressed out.  Our whole hormonal system can be changed by stress. It can cause us to have those occasional breakouts all the way to full  blown acne. Stress can cause psoriasis, itching and thinning of the skin.  Just to name a few.  All of these can cause premature aging and no one wants to look old before our time....if even then.

Our bodies are like "little towns".  We have only limited places to shop in our "little towns" to gather necessary, yet essential supplies.  And our resources like water and nutrients aren't in great quantity.  So lets say one day there is a huge fire (stress)  in our "little town" (body) and all the resources (water and nutrients) are all called out to put the fire (stress) out in our "little town" (body). Before we realize it our "little town" (body) is all out of it's resources because every essential nutrient that our skin needed to stay young and vibrant is now depleted and our skin begins to look dull, ashy and wrinkled.

Water seems like such a simple thing. However, it is one of the most essential needs for your body to stay healthy and your skin to stay glowing. Without water our skin becomes dehydrated and it becomes very vulnerable to the world around us.  So drink up!!....water that is.

Another way to help our skin look younger is to eat a balanced diet.  Yes that means to be sure and eat all your veggies, fruit, nuts (in health portions) and modest meat protein.  We have talked about this in another post. And I'm sure I will keep harping on this area in the future.

Another way to help our bodies when we are stressed out is to exercise.
Now I am the last one to get onto this band wagon.  It is so easy to preach it but doing it is another thing.  It seems like every morning during my Quiet Time with God, I tell myself  "today is the day.  I am going to get in there and walk on that treadmill for 30 minutes."  Then the end of the day comes and I realize I never followed through with my exercising.  This can go on and on.

So I would like to put out a 4 week challenge!  Let's beat this stress from robbing us of our glow.
For the next 4 weeks let's all exercise at least 30 minutes three times a week.
Drink at least eight glasses of water every day and eat healthier meals in moderation.
I am also going to make myself accountable to all of you.
I am going to get on this "band wagon" and start my exercise routine and would like for each one of you join me.  I will be posting my progress along the way!

Who's up for it?
Please leave a comment and let me know how you are doing on this little challenge.

Also here's an awesome music video by Natalie Grant to get you pumped and on your way!

Blessings ❤
